Sumario:Despite being well established in Brazilian historiography and criticism, one cannot fail to recognize that Álvares de Azevedo still occupies a strange position in our literature, together with others of his time, such as the Bahian Junqueira Freire. Anti-canon canon, if we consider that, since its first reception in the 19th century, it was not rare for him to notice his position as a young poet, who died prematurely, especially oblivious to the nationalism that would be said to be imposing on our romantic literature. It is possible to notice that the poet's attempts at reading, for those not specialized in his work or even in the debates of his time, cause some destabilization, to the point that we may notice a kind of idiosyncratic sestra or a certain deliberate isolation from contemporary intellectuals...
