Sumario:To form qualified Industrial Engineers, to perform in constantly evolving work contexts, is required continuous evaluations and periodic updates of courses curriculums. An important strategy used in this process is listening to the alumni opinions about the course.  Also, taking into consideration industrial production managers opinions about the demands of the current market on competences needed for an Industrial Engineer. Therefore, this research aimed to identify the skills needed by the Industrial Engineer from the perspective of graduates and industrial production managers, comparing them with the skills that the investigated course seeks to develop. For this, a case study was carried out, with an online questionnaire applied to alumni and interviews with sixteen industrial production managers. The importance of non-technical competences was highlighted, being also indicated as the most absent in professionals in the area. It was found that the competences most valued by the participants are considered in the investigated course, but some should be more highlighted. It was concluded that there is a need for learning strategies in authentic contexts, providing professional experiences.
