Sumario:Composed in 1928, Carl Nielsen’s Clarinet Concerto, Op.57 became a fundamental work in the twentieth-century clarinet literature. This study discusses some of the work’s performance aspects by means of examining its context related to its composer and compositional procedures. The discrepancies between the Sanfundet edition and the composer’s manuscripts are observed. Analysis aspects of the work support the discussion about its initial reception and its role in the clarinet literature.
