| Sumario: | Abstract: The photographic document and memory are found in the Information Science area, mainly in the social, cultural, historical and legal evidence context. They are gaining more and more space in the virtual world, in addition to being present in all layers of society. This study intends to raise indicators of how the themes: photographic document and memory are articulated to discussions on military dictatorship in the annals of the National Meeting of Research in Information Science and in the postgraduate programs in IC of the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations in 2019. Objective: From data recovery, quantify the themes of the productions, pointing out which ones address the social context, and what contribution to the area. Methodology: exploratory research – descriptive based on a quantitative approach, with a bibliographic research procedure based on a survey in databases. Results: to instigate reflections on the social role of photography during the military dictatorship period. Conclusion: understand a little more about the theme of photography in the construction of social memory, acquire subsidies and indicators for new productions, expanding investigations on the subject in the field of Information Science.
