| Sumario: | The aim of this article is to present the methodological and theoretical assumptions of Francis Bacon’s and David Hume’s empiricism found in Arthur Schopenhauer’s metaphysics. The central argument is that Schopenhauer’s detachment from the idealist tradition implies his approach to modern empiricism. Schopenhauer's empiricist reading enhances the understanding of his metaphysics of will and, also, makes it possible to better situate the philosopher in the history of philosophy. |
