| Sumario: | This article reports an experience based on the Meaningful Learning Theory by David Ausubel, who used conceptual maps as a didactic tool to promote meaningful learning. The proposal, which focuses on teaching electrostatics concepts, was developed with a group of 105 students of senior high school students in the city of Passo Fundo, RS, Brazil. The results obtained show that developing a methodology focusing on the previous knowledge of students and using conceptual maps as a educational resource might be a promising experience, in order to promote the meaningful learning of electrostatics concepts.
