| Summary: | This study aims to analyze the effects of parents’ education on the school performance of the students. The Causal Mediation Effect method was applied to the information extracted from SAEB, School Census, and the Platform of Social Indicators made available by INEP (2015). The results showed that the causal mediation effect gains strength as parents ’level of education increases, indicating that part of the effect of parents’ schooling is strengthened by the family socioeconomic level. The indirect influence of parents’ schooling through mediation of socioeconomic conditions, on average, is higher for the male children. |
