Descripción
Sumario:The aim of this study is to verifythe effects of futsal training on body composition and power (explosive strength) of the lower limbs in female athletes. This is a descriptive study, which was used by data collected at the beginning and end of the season training in 2011. The sample consisted of 16 athletes (n = 16) female, adult category, in the Catholic University of Pelotas. The systematized training period lasted eight months, consisted of five weekly sessions. The training sessions were applied during the time of 90 minutes, and the intensity and training volume varied according to the games schedule. In the first month of training the athletes had an average of 240.5±15,93 in the test of power of the lower limbs. After training in the eighth month, the athletes showed an improvement in the jump test reaching the overall average of 243.57 ±11.50. Regarding the percentage of fat in the first monththe average was 23.23±8.86 and in the end the average score was 19.79±6.62 bringing a reduction in the percentage of fat. The training was favorable to improve the ideal fat percentage and muscle power in the lower limbsof female futsal. The variables presented and the relationship that both have with the improvementof the sports performance, it was identified that there are few studies available in the literature regarding female futsal, which is an issue to be explored in the future.
