Sumario:Concern for teaching training in higher education has been subject to fidget researchers from different areas of knowledge, including the accounting area. The idea that mastering contents of the area is sufficient to ensure the process of teaching and learning is no longer sustained. The search for a more consistent teaching training leads to the idea of checking what experiences have been working, that is, what do professors who stand out among their peers use as a strategy? Amid these concerns, through a survey with graduates of Accounting courses, this study has the general objective of identifying the basic knowledge of the professors who were references in the perception of graduates in Accounting. The survey sample corresponds to 158 respondents in two micro-regions of Minas Gerais and Goiás, to whom was sent a questionnaire reasoned in the Two-Dimensional Model of Lowman (2007). The results showed that the good performance of professors is mainly outlined by the "mastering of content", followed by "clarity in the transmission of information." In a coherent way, in the Intellectual Stimulus dimension, the main attribute identified is "be prepared" while in the dimension Interpersonal Relationship, the "interested" and "respectful" attributes showed the highest averages. In comparison with previous studies, the "organized", "accessible" and "respectful" attributes showed the greatest convergence.
