| Sumario: | Healthy aging, accompanied by a successful remodeling of the body and the immune system, represents a paradigm for modern societies. Understand haw body functions deteriorate and how the organism compensate, as well as know which biological markers (immunological, genetic and epigenetic) are determinants for healthy in advancement age, may allow intervention to promote better life span. In regard of that, this study, proposed to analyze the immune factors released by adipose tissue (adiponectin, resistin and leptin) that may be associated with "healthy aging". This is a cross-sectional study with 54 healthy individuals of both sex, divided into 3 groups: 19-60 years (n = 18); 60-75 years (n = 19); > 75 years (n = 17). The concentrations of adiponectin, leptin and resistin in serum were determined by ELISA (R & D System DuoSet Kit). The findings indicate a significant decline in serum levels of leptin in individuals older than 75 years, independent of nutritional status, which was not repeated for resistin and and resistin in serum were determined by ELISA (R & D System DuoSet Kit). The findings indicate a significant decline in serum levels of leptin in individuals older than 75 years, independent of nutritional status, which was not repeated for resistin and adiponectin. Further research is needed to elucidate the influence exerted by adipose tissue on the homeostatic functions of the immune system involved in aging. |
