Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional, retrospective, quantitative approach. The population corresponded to 950 births in 2011, which generated sample of 300 records. Results: It was observed that the highest number of births - 97 - occurred in the age group under de18 years (32.3% of the sample). Regarding maternal education 52.6% of women had only primary education. It was found that 43.4% had between 4-5 prenatal consultations. As for the type of delivery, cesarean section and 51.6% were normal and 47.7% regarding the indication for cesarean section, there was a lot of deliveries without justification or clinical criteria (23.0% of elective cesarean sections). With regard to maternal risks exist according to mode of delivery has proven to be a higher morbidity of caesarean section, both in respect of quantity but also in diversity of complications. Conclusions: We demonstrated a peculiar profile, capable of producing effects or obstetric risks fundamental in the birth process, as the results refer to worrying conditions: high rate of teenage pregnancy, low education, inadequate prenatal coverage, rates of caesarean sections and unexplained considerably more severe maternal morbidity in cesarean section, compared to normal. |
