| Sumario: | This study aims to assess levels of anxiety and depression in a population of institutionalized elderly living in towns in the state of Bahia, Brazil. The results showed the elderly with some pain, symptoms of mild and moderate depression, and frequent symptoms of anxiety. It is suggested a different approach about public policy, family, and professionals working at long-term care facilities, in order to contribute to improvement of the quality of elderly life.Keywords: Institutionalized elderly; Anxiety; Depression. |
