| Sumario: | The objective of this study was to evaluate the profitability of maize, soybean and wheat crops under different soil tillage systems. The experiment, covering twelve cultivations, was carried out at 'Embrapa Arroz e Feijão' (Santo Antônio de Goiás, GO, Brazil), on Oxisol, under center pivot irrigation for six consecutive years (from September 1992 to September 1998). The tillage treatments were: moldboard plough, harrow disc, and no-tillage. Soybean and maize were sown in November-December and wheat in May-June. The moldboard plough tillage system showed the highest benefit/cost operational ratio (2.03) for the maize crop: 4.6% and 3.1% higher than harrow disc and no-tillage systems, respectively, with a net profit of R$749.02/ha. The harrow disc tillage system showed the highest benefit/cost operational ratio for the soybean and wheat crops (1.22 and 1.31, respectively): 5.2% and 2.5% higher than the moldboard plough and 3.5% and 9.2% higher than the no-tillage system. Under the harrow disc tillage system, the net profit was R$157.03/ha for soybean and R$272.27/ha for wheat.KEY-WORDS: Moldboard plough; harrow disc; no-tillage; economical evaluation. |
