| Sumario: | The republican theory of justice represents the understanding that individuals, in order not to be dominated in social and public life, need the organizational structure of the democratic state of law to carry out their life projects. The issue of justice is centered on the social implementation of the ideal of freedom as non-domination. It refers to social relations founded on the principle of equal treatment and opportunities. The political theory of Philip Pettit proposes the application of the eyeball test as the tool of recognition of the forms of subjugation and submission in contemporary societies. This test rule will educate individuals about social injustices and those marginalized by extreme poverty and lacking opportunities. Pettit establishes two criteria for the deduction of the basic freedoms that must be assured by the republican state. The criteria are the co-exercisable and co-satisfying of the individuals' choices. The state would only be obliged to guarantee the basic freedoms that passed under this sieve. The Republican model of state is organized to offer the infrastructure and resources necessary to the rescue and protection of the social condition of free and equally influential in the political decisions. Republican citizens enjoy the status of socially independent and act with the goal of building a democratic and inclusive society. |
