Sumario:The Federal University of Sergipe (UFS) plays a crucial role in scientific advancement, generating patentable products and processes. This study analyzed UFS’s patent portfolio from the perspective of intellectual property management. Using scientific journals such as Scielo, Web of Science, and ScienceDirect, along with the INPI patent database, the statuses and quantities of patent applications were examined. The results revealed that 158 submissions underwent INPI decisions, with 20 granted, eight annulled, 96 archived, and 42 rejected by the INPI. Additionally, it was found that UFS’s patenting success rate was 13%, justified by the high number of archived and rejected applications. These findings are relevant for guiding innovation centers in patent application management and maintenance.
