| Sumario: | In this paper we examine Social Assistance Policy. More specifically, we tried to understand how it is understood and accessed by potential users living in quilombos in Vale do Mucuri (MG). The data for this study were obtained from interviews with quilombola subjects, carried out through focus groups in eight quilombos. The study showed the existence of a process of invisibilization of communities, which, consequently, leads to a low standard of intervention by the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS) in this segment. At the same time, he pointed out that, although the gains derived from income transfer programs are not sufficient to eradicate poverty in that environment, they are capable of mitigating the numerous survival difficulties that affect that population. Finally, the article defends the need for National Social Assistance Policy (PNAS) to be designed taking into account the diversity and particularities of the human groups to which it is intended. |
