| Summary: | The purpose of this study was to describe the relationship between the number of kicks towards of goal and the final result of match during Futsal World Cup from Thailand 2012. Data were obtained from the world tournament database that are published on the official FIFA website. Fifty-two matches were analyzed, 36 games in the group phase, 8 games in the eigth finals, four games in the quarterfinals, two games in the semifinals, 1 game in the decision of the third place and the final game. The results showed that in the 52 matches played in the FIFA Futsal World Cup in Thailand occurred 3604 kicks with averaging 69.3 per game, and of these 1,416 were towards goal with an average of 27.2 per game; and only 348 materialized in goals with an average of 6.7 goals per game. We found a moderate positive correlation (r = 0.513; p <0.0001) between the kicks towards of goal and victory in the game. Mean of kicks towards of goal was statistically different compared to the result in the match (loss = 10.40 ± 4.85, 17.02 ± 6.26 = victory; p < 0.0001). We conclude that the teams that kick more towards of goal are more likely to be the winners in the professional soccer games. |
