Descripción
Sumario:Given the difficulty of implementing an efficient public transportation system to provide greater accessibility for disabled to urban space, this study aimed to apply the technique of routing through the Geographic Information System (GIS), the exclusive transport for people with special needs in Montes Claros/MG. Therefore, we created a digital database of the road system of the city. For this, we used the Quick Bird satellite image. From the perspective of comparing the current route for transportation service performed and the route generated by the simulations, we used data stored by the GPS receiver and software TransCAD. The results showed an average reduction of 19% of the mileage and identified the operational advantage that can be achieved with the use of GIS in the definition of routes.
