| Sumario: | This paper aim to analyze the profile of the worker from Mato Grosso do Sul state (Brazil) and based on certain characteristics of that worker, determine the probability of his be working. For this, the PNAD of 2015 was used as a data source. After defining the variables, a descriptive analysis of the distribution of the characteristics of workers of Mato Grosso do Sul was presented. Among the results found, it was observed that most employed individuals were male (57.75%) while the majority of unemployed were female (57.43). The average age of the individuals who worked was 33 years. In addition, 68.64% of employees had a formal contract. After the descriptive analysis of the data, these were used in the application of the logistic econometric model, Logit. According to the results, the variables gender and education were statistically significant. Regarding to the gender variable, it was observed that the chance of a male individual being working was 80.21% higher than the chance of a woman. In addition, an extra year of schooling increased the chance that the individual was working by 5.9%. |
