Descripción
Sumario:This article aims to bring to the field of reflection and discussion the importance of curricular decolonization and the implementation of an Afrocentric curriculum as a tool for recognizing and strengthening the citizenship of the black population. To this end, it was based on the theoretical contributions of renowned thinkers whose works help to understand the main challenges and perspectives for promoting a truly anti-racist education. This educational transformation demands continuous effort, collaboration and commitment from all agents involved, with the aim of establishing a more inclusive and equitable educational system, capable of combating racism, prejudice and discrimination in all spheres of society. The methodology applied involved the research and analysis of previously published studies on the subject, using academic databases, books, articles and scientific journals as primary sources. Based on the literature review, it became clear that curricular decolonization is an urgent and indispensable process to transcend the legacy of colonialism and racism in Brazil. In addition, teacher training and the creation of appropriate teaching materials are crucial to the success of this initiative. It is, therefore, a fundamental issue for overcoming structural racism and for promoting a fairer and more inclusive education, reflecting the need for a deep recognition of the multiple identities that make up our society.
