Description
Summary:There are several studies on the myth, with different approaches. Therefore, this article aimed to contribute to mythological studies, through the ethnoliterary perspective developed by Pais (2005). Starting from the ethnoliterary vision, we sought to understandthe process of transformation of the historical character into a mythified character, which we call heroicization. In this process, history and myth are intertwined, in which historical facts are re-signified over the years, through the various discursive genres. Through the discussions presented, we understand that the new elements added to the myth, over time, are not unpretentious, but intentional, due to a cultural, political and historical demand.
