Descripción
Sumario:The present article studies the way how Gonzalo Fernández de Oviedo, first chronicler of the Indies, glanced at New World’s nature. In his work, we find different kind of looks that make clear the concerns, intentions and interests he has, sometimes even opposing ones; they actually change depending on the topic he is dealing with or the context. All those glances help us to better understand this new discourse that is emerging during the first half of XVIth century over America and its nature.
