Descripción
Sumario:This research aims to analyze the inequality of household income per capita, in the years 2002 and 2015, in the States of Ceará and São Paulo. This study used the decomposition of the Gini Index following the method of Hoffman (2007). The applied database came from the PNAD, published by IBGE, with cuts for the aforementioned years. Household income was broken down into income from work, public and private pensions and pensions, rents, donations and other income from government social programs. Therefore, it was found that the State of Ceará, in the period analyzed, presented a higher income inequality index in a comparative analysis with the State of São Paulo. Given the facts, there was a reduction in income inequality, which had as a highlight the income from work and the social programs of cash transfers (Bolsa Família and Continuous Cash Benefit), which Brazil adopts.
