Resumo:This work aims to analyze the culture of the congado as an instrument that reveals religiosity and the transmission of knowledge that go beyond symbolic and historical knowledge, and that contribute to the construction of the feeling of belonging to the local culture. As a research object, the guard of the Association of Parents and Friends of the Exceptional of Ouro Preto (APAE-OP) was chosen and its relationship with the parties of Nossa Senhora do Rosário and Nossa Senhora das Graças, with the purpose of investigating the social importance congado for the students of that institution. For the proposed analysis, the theoretical contributions of Cultural Geography are used in conjunction with Leisure Studies, which open us up to the expansion of new possibilities to rethink the spatial dimension of phenomenologically based culture and developments in the studies of lived space. This research is, for Leisure Studies specifically, a way to get to know an important dimension of human life, which is the party, and to better understand our traditions. The methodological scenario adopted is the case study, since it allows to identify and analyze in depth the processes and social relationships that integrate the object of research. The following methodological procedures are also used as ways of operationalizing the research: bibliographical and documentary research, participant observation and semi-structured interviews. This work shows that to live the party is to live the place from experience and emotions, it is to find oneself in the other and to recognize oneself. It is to mark, model and transform the place by assigning value, sense and meaning. For people with disabilities, congado is also a source of didactic, social, cultural and inclusive wisdom.
