| Sumario: | The studies on the parabola in textbooks is something common, different from the catenary curve, even though both havecertain similarities. The catenary was the subject of great discussions within the History of Mathematics and the evolutionof Differential Calculus, but the discussion about it is still limited in textbooks used in teaching degrees and is rarelymentioned in the course of basic education. The objective of this work is to carry out a study of these curves, presentingtheir similarities and differences with the contribution of the GeoGebra software for its visualization, manipulation, andmathematical comprehension. To this end, we used Didactic Engineering (DE) as a methodology in its first two phases, preliminary analysis and a priori analysis, in which we seek to carry out a historical, epistemological, and didactic surveyon these curves, as well as to present a construction in GeoGebra as a didactic proposal, aiming to subsidize the teachingmethodology when dealing with this theme with the support of digital technology. |
