| Resumo: | The present article seeks to do a brief presentation of the practice of the roguery between men and free women in Rio de Janeiro in the first half of the century XIX, using assources the comedies writings for Martins Grieves among the years of 1833 and 1847. The characters that Martins Pena placed at the stages of the Court show us a little of the waistgame and of the "necessary way" to transform the disadvantages in advantages and, like this, to survive in a creative way in that imperial society that grows and he/she/it develops coming replete of. traditions, contradictions and possibilities. |
