Sumario:Obesity is established as one of the greatest health threats of the world population, linked directly to excessive accumulation of body fat. Two factors are responsible for the so-called exogenous obesity, which comprises 95% of cases, poor diet and physical inactivity. The present study had as objective to compare two training protocols, the concurrent and circuit training. The concurrent training (aerobic and resisted applied 30 minutes each); the circuit training (alternating series, composed of 14 stations, 10 minutes warm up, followed by 12 stations of 21 Minutes, with two passes, totaling 42 minutes of training), with duration of 1 hour per day, three times a week for 8 weeks. Twenty women aged 20 to 40 years were selected. Physical evaluations were carried out through bioimpedance of high precision, being evaluated before the beginning of the training and at the end of the 8 weeks. The variables of body weight, body mass index, body fat mass, skeletal muscle mass, percentage of body fat, basal metabolic rate and visceral fat area were analyzed. Circuit training proved to be more effective in evaluating the area of visceral fat, being significant (p <0.05). The training time of 8 weeks was sufficient to differentiate the area of visceral fat, an important factor correlated to several diseases. However, it was insufficient in relation to the other variables, and it was necessary to increase the minimum training time to 16 weeks.
