| Sumario: | In this article we propose an alternative solution for the brachistochrone problem, where we use only elementary arguments and tools from Differential and Integral Calculus and Elementary Physics, avoiding completely the Theory of Functionals and Euler-Lagrange Equation as customarily presented. This solution could be introduced to students of an ordinary Differential and Integral Calculus Course as an application of Optimization Techniques. |
