Descripción
Sumario:Studies on water supply in Minas Gerais since the colonial period are recent, and in general have focused on forms of intervention by public authorities with the aim of meeting the growing demand of the population residing in urban spaces, with emphasis on building water infrastructure. In turn, the need to use water in the mining activity carried out within the first urban centers of the captaincy required a reconciliation between consumption in homes or public sources and the use of water in mineral services. This article aims to analyze the water supply network in the city of Diamantina, Minas Gerais (Brazil) between the end of the 19th century and the first years of the 1930s, based on the records of the pipe fittings on which the payment of fees was levied.
