| Sumario: | The expression of possession relations by third-person pronouns in Brazilian Portuguese is an ongoing process of variation, which is not yet adequately represented in grammars: seu pronoun, in certain situations, remains productive. We examined a sample of university students’ speech and found the same distribution of PP3 in NURC. Results of a conditional regression analysis of PP3 corroborate the hypothesis of pronominal dominance and that of Müller’s (1997) complementary distribution, that seu works as a closed-form variable and dele expresses co-reference. |
