| Resumo: | The Popular Education movements from 1960 to 1964 were highlighted in Brazil through Paulo Freire, based on an education of mass awareness through dialogue. With the Political Opening, the possibilities of building a school adjusted to Paulo Freire's ideals emerged, aiming at its democratization. The objectives of this article are to punctuate Freire's legacy for education in Brazil and to analyze the realization of his ideas for an egalitarian and emancipatory public education. The methodology used is the bibliographic research, qualitative approach and the discursive and dialectical process through content analysis. We bring important considerations and reflections that Brazilian educators need to internalize Paulo Freire's ideas, concretizing them through action-research in the classroom. |
