Resumo:The body assessment is a strategy to analyze the nutritional status and to enable better training prescription. Futsal is an intensive sport which requires high energy expenditure, supplied by a balanced diet in calories and nutrients. This study aimed to evaluate the nutritional status and body composition of soccer players in Moita Bonita, State of Sergipe, through anthropometric data collected. The studied group is composed of 11 athletes, evaluated in the period between competitions. The ages of all males range between 19 and 39 years. Nutritional status was determined according to body mass index, and to obtain body composition skinfolds, collected in triceps, biceps, sub-scapular and supra-iliac, and waist circumference were used. When the body mass index was measured, the results demonstrated that 72 % of the studied athletes were above the normal range. As regards the waist circumference results, the vast majority -72 %, had normal parameters, regarding the percentage of fat, the average score of the athletes analyzed (20 %) was above the standards described in the literature for this group. In conclusion, nutritional status and body composition of studied athletes are above the established standards. Thus, this accentuates the importance of a diet plan suited to the sport that meets the specific needs of each player.
