Descrição
Resumo:The present work approaches a subject of great relevance in the learning of Geometry, Areas of Plane Figures, a theme very present in several everyday situations. Therefore, the study for the elaboration of this research had as main objective, to present the content Areas of Flat Figures with the use of the PhET platform. In addition, mentioning the main challenges and the significance of using active methodologies for teaching this content. In addition, the motivation for writing the work came from the perception of the difficulties that students face when faced with problems related to memorizing formulas without any connection with any daily practice. For the construction of this qualitative-quantitative analysis, a study and planning of a class was used as a basis, which was taught in a regular elementary school in the city of Iguatu-CE, with the purpose of using the simulator area builder and the perception of how collaborative the use of an active methodology in the educational field would be. Therefore, it was evident the need to develop the explanation of this content and after performing a dynamic to collaborate in fixing it. Furthermore, a previously established questionnaire with ten (10) multiple choice questions was applied to assess how the use of this simulator can contribute to students' understanding. Concluding then that the different methods and educational practices enable students to better understand the subjects and such methodology, for the theme Areas of Flat Figures, was well accepted by the students of that school.
