Descripción
Sumario:The Bible is considered one of the most read books in history. Moreover, it has been object of analysis not only of people who believe and accept its writings as well as those who see it by documentary, historical or literary bias. In this sense, the intentions may be scientific, historical, philosophical, literary and others. However, among the various fields that have already expressed some interest toward its content, the field of art has possibly called more attention. Once with the Bible, artists have kept for a long time a persistent dialogue. Thus, it can be noticed that there is a wide spread of biblical themes in different kinds of art, especially in literature. In some works, the biblical content is explicitly portrayed. In others only with more analytical studies, unexpected dialogues can be recognized. So, based on the notion that all artistic creation is configured as the reinterpretation of earlier works, this study aims to analyze, from a comparative perspective, the representation of Death, one of the Knights of the Apocalypse, the character of fictional narrative television serial Supernatural. Therefore, through a bibliographic and documentary research, based on the theoretical presuppositions of Foucault (2000) and Todorov (2009), this study makes a brief explanation of the concept of representation. Next, a setting and exemplifications of the dialogues that the Bible provides to some artistic languages. Finally, based on the source texts, Re. 6: 8 and Re. 20: 14, the analysis of the Death Knight is made up for the observation of the relevant features, as well as the possible deviations. Thus, relative to the proposed debate, it is expected that this research confirms the presence and reversal of these themes in the arts, especially in television fictional serial narratives, as well as reinterpretations of their contexts.
