Descripción
Sumario:This article aimed to identify the main conditions that led to the hospitalization of crack users accompanied at a psychosocial care center - alcohol and other drugs. This is an exploratory-descriptive, documentary, and retrospective study, carried out by consulting the medical records of 213 crack users undergoing treatment at a psychosocial care center - alcohol and other drugs. Descriptive and inferential data analysis were performed. The results show that most crack users were male, single and with low education. Among the main conditions that led to hospitalizations in the aforementioned center, we highlight withdrawal syndrome, respiratory diseases, convulsive crises and sexually transmitted infections. The reasons for the hospitalizations of crack users should be investigated in depth for better assistance to this population. Comprehensive care includes actions to prevent clinical comorbidities, to reduce hospitalizations and improve the quality of life of crack users.
