| Sumario: | The present work deals with separatism in the southern region of Brazil, in which separatist movements that emerged in the 1990s are analyzed, specifically dealing with three: República do Pampa Gaúcho, O Sul É O Meu País and Rio Grande Livre. Furthermore, the issue of how these groups' discourses were constructed, their foundations –– see Sesquicentennial of the Farroupilha Revolution, even cultural differences between Brazilian regions and economic factors will also be addressed. In this way, it will help in a better understanding of the construction of identities, memory, heroes, and the region, as well as how this is used by separatists. Using the texts and previous research, added to the aforementioned works of the discipline, it is possible to understand how separatist groups operate and how the agenda fades as right-wing and extreme-right governments rise. |
