This standardization enables the interoperability and preservation of scientific content. The research describes the implementation of Marcalyc/AmeliCA in the journal Práticas Educativas, Memórias e Oralidade (Rev.Pemo), highlighting the importance of visibility and editorial efficiency. Using a qualitative action-research methodology, the study evaluated the operational efficiency and quality of the metadata, as well as analyzing the impact on the academic community. Making Marcalyc/AmeliCA free is essential for the sustainability of journals with limited resources. At Rev.Pemo, it promoted the democratization of knowledge, reinforcing the commitment to open access.As publicações acadêmicas enfrentam desafios na visibilidade científica, assim a adoção de tecnologias, como o XML-JATS, é crucial para acessibilidade e preservação dos conteúdos. Em 2016, a ferramenta Marcalyc/AmeliCA, impulsionada pela Redalyc, renomado indexador, foi lançada para facilitar a marcação XML-JATS dos artigos. Esta padronização permite a interoperabilidade e preservação dos conteúdos científicos. A pesquisa descreve a implementação do Marcalyc/AmeliCA na Revista Práticas Educativas, Memórias e Oralidade (Rev.Pemo), destacando a importância da visibilidade e eficiência editorial. Utilizando uma metodologia qualitativa do tipo pesquisa-ação, o estudo avaliou a eficiência operacional e a qualidade dos metadados, além de analisar o impacto na comunidade acadêmica. A gratuidade do Marcalyc/AmeliCA é essencial para a sustentabilidade de periódicos com recursos limitados.
