| Sumario: | The criteria of newsworthiness that govern the journalistic practices of five online news portals in the city of Olavarría, Buenos Aires, Argentina in the year 2022 are analysed. The objectives of the research are: to identify if the news is written by journalists of the medium; to identify the topics of the news in the conformation of the news agenda; to identify the criteria of newsworthiness that govern the main topics analysed and to understand the news values from the meanings that journalists give to their practices. In order to achieve these objectives, a mixed quantitative andqualitative strategy is proposed, using data collection and production techniques such as content analysis on a corpus of 175 news items and semi-structured interviews with local journalists. The main findings of this work lie in the predominance of information of local scope, with the main topics being sports and policeinformation, and the main criteria for newsworthiness being the impact of the news, proximity, the hierarchy of the actors involved and entertainment. In the conclusions, the role of local journalism and its relevance for the communities to which it is addressed are discussed. |
