Resumo:Objective: The aim is to analyze studies on sustainable development related to the Amazon in scientific publications in the area of Information Science, from the perspective of the 21st century, with a focus on environmental information. Methodology: The research, of a theoretical nature, of a bibliographic type, went through the following methodological stages: bibliographic collection, in the following databases: BRAPCI, LISA, Web of Science (WoS) and Scielo; analysis and discussion of the themes present in the selected studies, taking into account the theoretical framework and the characteristics of the sources. Results: The results showed the incipience of national and international studies on sustainable development in the area of Information Science focused on the Amazon. Conclusions: It is concluded that the need for approaches and research on the subject is evident. With its interdisciplinary inclination and ability to analyze one of the main contemporary resources, information, IS has major potential to contribute to the advancement of themes involving Sustainable Development (SD) also the Amazon Region itself.
