description This article is the result of an excerpt from Santana's dissertation (2022), linked to the Master's Degree in Modern Languages at the Universidade Federal do Maranhão (UFMA), whose main aim was the elaboration of a semi-bilingual Portuguese/Libras – (Brazilian Sign Language), glossary in the field of electricity that made it possible, consequently, to the identification of some processes of creation of term-signs in this scope. Considering the previous information exposed, the purpose of this work is to highlight some of the processes of creation of identified term-signs that result in the expansion and updating of this specialized lexicon. The data were collected from six deaf people who communicate in Libras, men and women, students and graduated of the Electrotechnics, Electronics, Electromechanics and Electrical Engineering courses at the Instituto Federal do Maranhão (IFMA). For the theoretical-methodological construction of this article, they were considered studies by Santana (2022), Felten and Finatto (2021), Krieger and Finatto (2020), Prometi and Costa (2018), Felten (2016), Faria-Nascimento (2009), among others. The results showed the influence of writing in Portuguese on Libras in linguistic borrowings by transliterating the initial letter and the total writing of terms. It was also identified cases of derivational neologisms from signs and other term-signs, as it was the case of the sign(term) electricity. According what has been presented, it is expected to contribute to the expansion of terminological studies in Libras, especially for the morphological analysis of the term signs and for the specialized communication of professionals electricians and deaf aspiring in Brazil.

According what has been presented, it is expected to contribute to the expansion of terminological studies in Libras, especially for the morphological analysis of the term signs and for the specialized communication of professionals electricians and deaf aspiring in Brazil.
