Sumario:The following paper is the product of a talk presented at the Colóquio Encruzilhadas, Fricções e Dissensos na Arte Colaborativa, held at UFMG in November 2022.  The objective of the text is to think about the articulation between the concepts of “common” and “community” through a reflection about the “common” as a fundamental element of sociability and as an object of political struggle based on the perspective developed by some contemporary thinkers. For this, the text: 1) presents a general characterization of the concept of community in the terms in which it has been thought especially by the sociological tradition; 2) points out Roberto Esposito’s critique of this approach and his reinterpretation of the concepts of community and common; and, finally, 3) connects his reflection on the necessity of expanding the spaces of the common with other contemporary perspectives about a politics of the common, as developed by Hardt and Negri, Silvia Federici, and Dardot and Laval.
