Sumario:The modern notion of family presupposes that having children is a condition for the moral, social and legal process of legitimation of what is defined as a "family". ln Brazil, despite all legal and social constraints, new family arrangements - including gay and lesbian families - are taking part in the Academe, media and politics' discussions. How family and gender issues are rearranged in the relations between parenting and homosexuality? How do subjects deal with gender and parenting issues when faced with the performativity of desire? These are questions which lead us to think about the impact that homossexuality has caused when entered a field which Modernity has created and presented as a strictly heterosexual domain: the sentiment of family.
