Resumo:Originating from the Protestant Reform Movement and inspired by the French Revolution, the Normal Schools had the mission of training normal teachers for the first years of teaching. During the imperial period, responsibility for the creation of primary and normal schools was specialized in provincial assemblies, reflecting an ideologically elitist approach. During the Republican period, it became a center of educational renewal in Brazil, changing its curriculum and referencing events that marked the history of education. The article aims to highlight the Pedro Celestino Normal School and teacher training in Mato Grosso. Encouraged by the government, supported the need to organize public education and the reorganization of Public Instruction in 1910. It played a significant role in the implementation of educational reforms, consolidating methods teaching, allowing women to enter the profession, playing a fundamental role in the training of teachers in Mato Grosso, contributing to the organization and renewal of education in the state.
