Resumo:The objective of this study was to evaluate toxic activity of laurel essential oil (Laurus nobilis L.) and of cineole, an aciclic monoterpene considered as pure alelochemical compound, on Brevicoryne brassicae L. over cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata L.). Laurel essence concentrations were 1, 1.5, 2 and 3%; cineole concentrations were 0.5, 1.5 and 2.5%, both formulated in distilled water with 2% polyethyleneglicol oleate as emulsifier. Two application techniques were used: direct pulverization and impregnated papers. Mortality percentage was analyzed 24 hours after treatments. Results were analized by ANOVA and Tuckey test. Significant differences were observed for the evaluated products in all concentrations tested. Application techniques showed no significant differences. The highest mortality obtained was 52% for laurel essence and 27.5% for cineole. Tested products could by used as a promisory tool for integral pest management in aphid control on vegetable crops.
