Descripción
Sumario:This study examines the legal protection of human rights defenders in Mexico, focusing on the risks and violence they face. The aim of the study is to assess the effectiveness of the national and international legal frameworks designed to protect human rights defenders in Mexico, through the analysis of landmark cases, statistical data, and relevant jurisprudence. The research is based on the hypothesis that current legal measures and public policies remain insufficient, thereby perpetuating impunity and systemic violence. Methodologically, the study adopts a qualitative approach grounded in documentary analysis, reviewing the Mexican Constitution, the Law on the Protection of Human Rights Defenders and Journalists, and international treaties such as the American Convention on Human Rights. The conclusions highlight the need to strengthen normative harmonization, eradicate impunity, and improve protection mechanisms. The study underscores the responsibility of the state and the importance of incorporating a gender perspective, as well as enhancing international cooperation to ensure a safe environment free from attacks and intimidation.
