description En esta tesis se presenta un estudio cualitativo de la experiencia de duelo que se produce por la muerte de un ser querido. La misma se explora y describe a partir de las significaciones recopiladas en las narrativas de los sujetos que se reconocen estando en duelo, al momento de participar en esta indagación. Para llevarla a cabo se realizaron, entre los años 2019 a 2023, treinta entrevistas a sujetos en duelo, nueve a expertos, por su conocimiento en el campo de la salud mental, y dos a referentes de comunidades espirituales. Con el material obtenido se realizó un análisis temático que permitió establecer núcleos de sentido enfocados en las significaciones del tema estudiado. Los registros analizados se entendieron a la luz de la teoría psicoanalítica, de las investigaciones de la psicología y la psiquiatría, los estudios de la antropología, la historia y la sociología. Este estudio muestra las significaciones que componen la experiencia de duelo. Se reconocen en ellas, la necesidad de hablar de la muerte y los afectos que genera, las valoraciones de los rituales y la continuidad del lazo con el difunto. Dan cuenta de una ruptura en la biografía del sujeto, que busca otorgar sentidos e intenta gestionar el duelo y sus malestares, compartiéndolo con otros o llevándolo a la consulta médica, psiquiátrica, psicológica, como estrategia para sobrellevar la pena, socializando de esta forma la experiencia de pérdida. Los sentidos que se proponen, no están exentos de las ideas, normas y discursos que se producen sobre el duelo, los mensajes disciplinares o de otros sujetos que han pasado por la situación. Con este trabajo se espera contribuir al campo de los estudios del duelo ampliando el conocimiento académico en vinculación con un problema social.

Explored and described the meanings collected in the narratives of the subjects who recognise themselves to be in bereaved at the time of participating in this research. Between 2019 and 2023, thirty interviews were conducted with bereaved subjects, nine with experts, for their knowledge in the field of mental health, and two with referents of spiritual communities. With the material obtained, a thematic analysis was developed that allowed the establishments of cores of senses centred on the meanings of the topic studied. The records analysed were understood in the light of psychoanalytic theory, research in psychology and psychiatry, studies in anthropology, history and sociology. This study shows the meanings that shape the experience of bereavement. They recognise the need to talk about death and the affects it generates, the values of rituals and the continuity of the bond with the deceased. They account for a rupture in the subject's biograph, who seeks to give meaning and tries to manage grief and its discomforts, sharing it with others or taking it to medical, psychiatric and psychological consultations, as a strategy for coping with grief, thus socialising the experience of loss. The meanings that are proposed are not exempt from the ideas, norms and discourses that are produced about bereavement, disciplinary messages or messages from other subjects who have gone through the situation.
