Mortality was 1.3 % at the Charity Hospital, but half of this could have been prevented.La experiencia con cesárea-histerectomía de los últimos 20 años en el Hospital de la Caridad de Nueva Orleans y la Clínica Ochsner se revisa. En este período, 1.000 y 150 por cesárea-histerectomia se han realizado en los antiguos y posteriores instituciones de 6.600 y 1.000 operaciones cesáreas respectivamente. La morbilidad fue del 33% a la Caridad y el 10% en la Clínica Ochsner. La complicación más frecuente fue la infección del tracto urinario. No hubo mortalidad materna en la Clínica Ochsner.
