Sumario:The present research aimed to determine the relationship between the perception of caregiver burden and the quality of life of family caregivers of dependent older adults attended in the services of the Regional Hospital of Loreto in 2023. This was a quantitative, descriptive-correlational study with a non-experimental design. The sample consisted of 60 caregivers who completed a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Zarit Scale, and the SF-36 health questionnaire. The results indicated that 78.3% of the caregivers were women, 68.1% were caring for older adults aged 65 years or older, 72.3% had completed secondary education, and 63.8% lived with the older adult. Furthermore, 85.0% reported experiencing mild burden, while 54.0% reported a better quality of life in general health. It was found that greater burden was associated with lower quality of life for the caregiver (pp<.05) in the dimensions of physical functioning, role physical, role emotional, and mental health. In conclusion, there is a statistically significant relationship between the perception of caregiver burden and the quality of life of family caregivers of dependent older adults.
