Resumo:This is a partial result of an urban profile series of investigations realized in the city of Merida, as part of the Urban Anthropology course. We are interested, in this case, to tour the reader around the conceptual aspects addressed during the course, which allow us to explain the metropolitan phenomenon, especially the in the Paseo de Montejo area. The matter is especially to point out point some issues that concern to all citizens alike (potential empowered actors) and to those who plan the city (architects, engineers, politicians). Reflecting about the way of how we build the city and the way we appropriate the space that belongs to one of the major highways and pedestrians corridors in Mérida means getting closer to the type of comprehension that will guide us to a more inclusive public space play
