Resumo:The article discusses the role of the Mexican online journalism in fostering a virtual public sphere according to the ideals of deliberative democracy. The paper discusses a qualitative analysisof three of the most important digital news sites and a quantitative analysis to 1 390 comments to their national news ítems. These platforms offer limited spaces for participation and the discussions are scarce and lack of solid arguments, tolerance and congruency.
